I-PATH is proud to partner with Starz Acro®, bringing together high quality Acro teacher training and the I-PATH Acro Dance examination pathway.
We believe safe and effective Acro teaching takes more than a few days or weekends. Starz Acro® provides comprehensive training designed to give dance teachers the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to teach Acro safely and progressively.
Teachers who successfully complete the appropriate Starz Acro® training will be recognised by I-PATH to deliver the I-PATH Acro Dance syllabus, subject to completing the relevant I-PATH Acro Dance CPD.
You do not need to already be an Acro teacher to begin.
The Starz Acro Levels 1 to 4 Teacher Training has been designed specifically for dance teachers who want to develop the skills and confidence to teach Acro properly, even if they have little or no previous acrobatic training.
It is also ideal for existing Acro teachers who want to refresh their knowledge, improve their spotting and teaching techniques, strengthen their understanding of progressions and regressions, develop safer teaching practices and continue their professional development.
Whether you are completely new to Acro or already teaching it, the programme provides a strong foundation on which to build.
Starz Acro Levels 5 to 8 Teacher Training is coming soon and will focus on more advanced Acro skills and tricks. This will give teachers the opportunity to continue their development and safely progress dancers beyond the foundations into more advanced Acro work.
Some Acro teacher training courses can be completed in just a few days or weekends. We do not believe this is enough to become a safe and confident Acro teacher.

The Starz Acro® Levels 1-4 Teacher Training focuses on the essential foundations that underpin a dancer's future Acro development.
Rather than simply teaching teachers how to coach an end skill, Starz Acro® places a strong emphasis on understanding the journey towards that skill.
You will learn when to progress a dancer, when to take a step back and how to adapt your teaching to the individual student in front of you.

This is not designed to be a quick certificate.
It is designed to help you become a better Acro teacher.
The programme is fully online and self-paced.
There is no need to take several days away from your studio or fit your training around fixed weekend courses.
You can work through the programme alongside your existing teaching commitments and revisit the training materials whenever you need them.
This also means you can take the time to practise, understand and apply what you are learning, rather than rushing through the content simply to complete a course.

The Starz Acro® Levels 5 to 8 Teacher Training will build on the foundations covered in Levels 1 to 4 and focus on more advanced Acro skills and tricks.
Teachers will develop a deeper understanding of how to safely prepare dancers for higher level skills, including the strength, flexibility, technique and progressions needed before attempting them.
The training will continue to focus on safe spotting, progressions and regressions, helping teachers understand not just how to teach an advanced skill, but how to build towards it safely and confidently.

Already qualified in Acro?
You do not necessarily need to retrain. I-PATH will continue to recognise other comprehensive Acro teacher training qualifications on an individual basis.
If you already hold an Acro teaching qualification, simply submit details of your training to I-PATH for consideration.
All teachers, whether trained through Starz Acro® or another recognised provider, must complete the relevant I-PATH Acro Dance CPD before delivering each grade.
This ensures every teacher understands:
Each CPD grade is available to watch online, at your own convenience. Each grade CPD is approximately 30 - 45 minutes long.
Acro is an exciting part of a dancer’s training, but it must be taught safely and responsibly.
Teachers need a clear understanding of physical preparation, progressions, regressions and safe spotting before introducing more demanding skills.
A qualification should represent genuine learning, not simply attendance on a short course.
