Performing Arts Qualifications

The only exam board built for the whole performing arts world.

I-PATH offers graded examinations from Premiere to Grade 8 in various disciplines including Acting, Ballet, Broadway Dance, Commercial Dance, Contemporary Dance, Street Dance, Jazz Dance, Lyrical Dance, Musical Theatre, Singing, and both Rhythm Tap Dance and Theatre Tap Dance. In addition, we provide independently regulated graded examinations in Acro Dance, Modelling, Public Speaking, and Choreography, ensuring opportunities for achievement awards in these areas.

Students can pursue our regular graded pathway, or opt for the Vocational Route available in selected dance disciplines (Intermediate to Advanced 2). These qualifications are Ofqual regulated, with Grades 6–8 carrying UCAS points, reinforcing their value in educational progression and teaching qualifications.

Exams can be taken Face-to-Face, Live Online, or by Recorded Video, with members enjoying complimentary access to syllabuses, programmes of study, demonstration videos, and essential teaching resources designed to support studio business operations and growth. We also connect students to opportunities through our talent agency, enhancing their journey in the performing arts.

Achievement Awards

Flexible awards. Every learner. Every achievement.

Our unregulated achievement awards provide teachers with increased flexibility to recognize student progress, performance, and success. Students can choose to perform any piece they wish with our achievement awards, which do not adhere to a set syllabus. For those interested in graded examinations, the Graded Achievement Awards allow students to select from a limited number of exercises across any I-PATH grade without needing to complete the entire exam. Additionally, our Guided Achievement Awards offer a more supported and adaptable pathway for learners who require extra assistance and a tailored approach to assessment. Every successful candidate receives an I-PATH award and certificate, celebrating their achievement, which can also bolster their teaching qualifications and support their future opportunities in studio business and with talent agencies.

Sparkle Awards & Programme

Big achievements for our youngest performers.

Designed especially for children aged 2–4, the I-PATH Sparkle Programme introduces young learners to the performing arts in a fun and positive way that builds confidence. This programme offers a range of activities in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acting, Broadway Dance, Commercial Dance, Lyrical Dance, Musical Theatre, and Singing, all tailored to develop creativity, coordination, communication, and performance skills. As a pathway to achievement awards, children can work towards Sparkle Awards and certificates, which provide exciting milestones while they prepare for future I-PATH graded examinations. Additionally, the program serves as a great foundation for those interested in pursuing teaching qualifications in the performing arts or even joining a talent agency, while also delivering essential studio business support for aspiring educators.

special educational Needs & disabilities

Every performer deserves the opportunity to achieve.

Our SEND offer provides learners with the flexibility to follow a pathway that suits their individual needs. Students can pursue our regulated graded examinations, which include Reasonable Adjustments when necessary, or opt for one of our more flexible unregulated paths. For those interested in showcasing their skills, our Graded Achievement Awards allow students to undertake a range of exercises from any grade, while the Achievement Awards feature no fixed syllabus, enabling students to perform a piece that aligns with their abilities. Successful candidates will receive formal recognition in the form of an I-PATH award and certificate. Additionally, our studio business support and talent agency contribute to enhancing the opportunities available for those earning teaching qualifications in this field.

Teaching Qualifications & CPD

Develop your skills. Build your career. Inspire the next generation.

I-PATH supports teachers at every stage of their professional journey. Our Level 3 Certificate provides an introduction to supporting teaching and learning in the performing arts, while our Level 4 Diploma in Performing Arts Teaching is designed for those ready to develop into confident, independent teachers. For experienced practitioners, our advanced Level 6 teaching qualifications enable them to deepen their knowledge, enhance their leadership skills, and refine their professional practice. In addition to our qualifications, members can access a growing programme of CPD courses, workshops, and training covering essential areas such as teaching methodologies, safeguarding, assessment, and business aspects, including studio business support and talent agency insights. Plus, we celebrate achievements with our achievement awards and offer graded examinations to further recognize our members' progress.
